Our story

The early beginnings of Accuprint were formed in the mid 1980’s when Malcolm’s international experience with variable barcodes set him up as one of only a handful of industry professionals to have an in depth knowledge of these curious little patterns. Soon after returning to Australia from a posting where he managed the Asia-Pacific printing operation for a large multi-national corporation, he could see their application in identifying cotton bales.

Subsequent research showed the cotton producers had also been troubled by ink colours fading, cardboard tags falling off the bales, and an integrity issue where each side of the cotton bale was sometimes numbered differently. Each of these concerns was resolved and an innovative double-ended plastic tag was devised and patented. Our first orders were received in 1988, and as further enhancements were introduced we have since supplied products to all cotton processors in Australia.

In a big season we dedicate most of the year to servicing the Australian cotton industry’s requirements for dependable identification of this valuable commodity. Automated manufacturing lines enable products to be printed, assembled and shipped from our purpose-built factory located just north of Sydney. State-of-the-art equipment including robotics is used with quality checks being integrated into the process, with RFID capabilities being available as customer needs change.
